What is Scribble?

Scribble is draw and guess, the classic party game. One person draws a secret word, everyone else races to type it first. It runs in your browser, in a room that is already full when you arrive.

How a round works

  • Someone is picked to draw and sees the word. Everyone else sees blanks, one per letter.
  • Draw it with the colours and brush, undo mistakes, or clear the board.
  • Type your guess in the box. A correct guess scores, and the faster you are the more you get.
  • The word is revealed, the pen passes on, and the next round starts. Points reset every 33 days.

Tips from people who play a lot

  • Start with the big shape. A rough outline gets a guess faster than detail.
  • Use colour on purpose: a yellow circle with rays says sun.
  • Guess short words first when the blanks are few.
  • Try the voice chat, it makes bad drawings funnier.

Why draw-and-guess is a great icebreaker

Nobody has to be a good artist, and bad drawings are half the fun. A stick figure with a crown and a very worried face gets a laugh, and the laugh starts a conversation. That is why drawing games work so well with strangers: everyone is on the same footing and the game gives you something to talk about.

You also get a real sense of the people in the room. Who guesses fast, who draws the funniest cats, who types the most creative wrong answers.

How scoring and rounds work

  • Guess early: points drop the longer the clock runs.
  • The drawer scores every time somebody guesses correctly, so clear drawings pay off.
  • Each round has a word to pick or a word given to you, and a countdown.
  • The scoreboard shows everyone in the room, and badges show your level.
  • Points reset every 33 days, so new players can always catch up.

Play fair, play friendly

Do not write the word into your drawing, and do not spoil answers in the chat. Abusive words are blocked, and anyone can report a drawing or a player with one tap. Repeat offenders are banned from the game for a while.

The game is for adults only. Keep your own name and details private, as everywhere else on StrangerChat.

Questions people ask

Is Scribble free?+

Yes. It is a free drawing and guessing game that runs in your browser. No download, no account.

How does Scribble work?+

One player gets a secret word and draws it. Everyone else types guesses. Faster guesses score more, and the drawer scores when people get it right.

Do I need friends to play?+

No. The room is shared with funchat.in and other sites, so there is usually a game running. Send the page to friends and they will land in the same room.

Is there voice chat?+

Yes, an optional one inside the game. It stays off until you tap it.

What if someone draws or types something rude?+

Tap the flag to report the drawing, or tap a player to report them. Abusive words are blocked and repeat offenders are banned from the game.
